Playing With Spirit, The Art of Therapeutic Music and The Practice of Healing Presence, presented by Jacqueline Spring: Spring 2012. Participants examine transpersonal growth with tools inspired by modern and ancient traditions. Attendees explore how the “healing presence” of the therapeutic musician may be enhanced if perceived through windows of spiritual practice, spiritual development or transpersonal psychology. The practice of therapeutic music from an understanding of “healing presence” as it is supported by one's own spirituality is vital for those who utilize music as a healing modality. Participants are exposed to opportunities to delve into their own personal growth and values, using tools from other traditions to find potential spiritual enhancement. Coming from a platform of religious pluralism, participants explore deeply held values, from a humanist standpoint and seeking value in spiritual tools that might enhance their therapeutic music role and spiritual path. Participants look into the heart of various world religions, and connect these concepts to the practice of therapeutic music. Participants leave with creative ideas to draw upon, and further areas of spiritual exploration to utilize in their own work as therapeutic musicians.
